How to Check a Domain Rating and Its Link Spam

    We read two sources

    The Domain Rating comes from Ahrefs. The referring domains come from DataForSEO's live link index, up to the 1,000 strongest, each with a spam score.

    Read the split next to the DR

    A referring domain with a spam score of 30 or more counts as link spam, under 30 as clean, and one without a score as neither. You see the counts and the spam share beside the DR, never the DR on its own.

    Unlock the list if you want it

    Enter your email under the result to see every referring domain, spam first with its score. The DR, the counts and the share never need an email.

    Check when it was read

    Every result says when each source was read. Readings are reused for up to a week, and the result tells you when you are looking at one.

What This DR Checker Reads, and What It Does Not

Read on every check

  • The Domain Rating, from Ahrefs' free DR API. DR is Ahrefs' metric, not ours, and it is always shown with their attribution.
  • The live referring domains in DataForSEO's index, with subdomains of one site counted once, up to the 1,000 strongest by DataForSEO's domain rank.
  • DataForSEO's spam score for each referring domain. The split into clean and link spam at a score of 30 is our reading of that score, not DataForSEO's verdict.
  • When each source was read. Readings are reused for up to a week.

Not covered

  • Google's view. Google does not use DR, and it does not publish which links it counts or ignores.
  • A verdict on any single link. A spam score is an estimate, and 30 is a threshold we chose, so read the list before acting on one domain.
  • Individual backlinks, anchor text or lost links. The checker counts linking domains.
  • More than 1,000 referring domains. A larger profile is split on its 1,000 strongest, and the result says so.

Why the split

A DR Tells You How Strong. Not What It Is Made Of.

A DR checker answers one question: how strong is this site's backlink profile, by Ahrefs' measure. It does not tell you whether the sites linking to it chose to.

We built this one after reading our own profile. In September 2026, 63 of the 80 domains DataForSEO listed as linking to rankzero.io scored as link spam, most of them from two Telegram link-selling networks. Across ten client sites we checked the same way, seven were more than half spam.

So a count of referring domains can mostly be counting spam. The number worth managing is how many clean domains link to you, and that is the number this checker puts next to the DR.

A DR checker looks up a site's Domain Rating, the 0 to 100 score Ahrefs gives the strength of a backlink profile compared with the other sites in its index. Ahrefs describes it as driven by how many sites link to you, how strong they are, and how many other sites they link to, since a linking site splits its rating between everything it links to. This checker adds what a DR does not tell you: how many of the domains linking to the site are link spam.
