Free AI Overview Checker
Before you write for a keyword, see what Google does with it. Check whether a search triggers an AI Overview and which pages the overview cites, so you know who you are competing with for that answer.
Check a query for an AI Overview
Type a query and see whether Google answers it with an AI Overview, and which pages it cites. Add your domain to see if one of them is yours. No signup, and no email needed to see the result.
How it works
How to Check AI Overview Results for a Keyword
- 1
Type the query the way people search it
One query per check, up to 120 characters. Use the wording your buyers actually type, not a tidied-up version of it.
- 2
Add your domain if you want to know whether you are cited
It is optional. A bare domain, a www address or a full URL all work, and pages on your subdomains count as yours.
- 3
Read the verdict and the cited pages
You get a yes or no for the AI Overview. When there is one, you see the pages it cites, with yours listed first. Up to 12 are shown, with the total when there are more.
- 4
Check when Google was read
Every result says when Google was read. Answers are reused for up to a week, so if the same query was checked a few days ago you see that reading, and the result tells you so.
What it reads
What This Google AI Overview Checker Reads, and What It Does Not
Checked on every run
- Google in the United States, in English, on desktop. The same settings every time, so two checks of one query are comparable.
- Whether the results page for your query carries an AI Overview.
- The pages the overview cites as sources, each with its title and domain, listed once each.
- Whether any cited page is on the domain you entered, subdomains included.
Not covered
- Other countries, other languages and mobile results. If your buyers search from elsewhere or on a phone, this check does not show you what they see.
- AI Mode, Google's separate conversational search. The checker reads the standard results page only.
- Sources Google loads separately. Now and then an overview's sources arrive in a second request, and the result then says they were not captured instead of reporting that nobody was cited.
- Change over time. A check is one reading of one query. It cannot tell you whether you will still be cited next week.

What to Do After You Check a Keyword
No AI Overview
Google answered with ordinary results, so classic rankings decide who gets the click for now. Check again later: coverage changes, and a query without an overview today can have one next month.
An AI Overview that cites you
The cited page is doing the work, so keep it accurate and current. Note which other pages share the overview with you. Those are the sources you are measured against for that query.
An AI Overview that does not cite you
Open the cited pages and look at what they answer that your page does not, and how directly they answer it. Our guide to Google AI Overview SEO covers what tends to get a page cited.
One query or all of them
A Check Answers Today. Monitoring Answers Every Day.
This checker answers one question: what does Google show for this query right now. Use it to size up a keyword before you write for it, or to see what changed after you publish.
If you need to know whether you are still cited next month, across every query that matters to your business, and which competitor took your place when you dropped out, that is a monitoring job. Our Google AI Overviews tracker runs your queries every day and trends the result.
